What is Filigree?
Filigree is openwork made from drawn wire. Fine threads of gold or silver are twisted, curled and soldered into a lattice that holds its shape without any solid backing. In India the technique is associated above all with Cuttack in Odisha and Karimnagar in Telangana. A filigree ornament weighs a fraction of what its size suggests.
