Plan my visit

Three questions, and we will tell you what is free, what you will see and how long to allow. You can skip this and use the booking form below.

Pick any day. The museum is closed on Sunday.

What a visit is like

A visit is guided from beginning to end. The museum holds more than 2,500 objects across nine galleries, and the route runs through all of them: jewellery, silverware, textiles and costumes, paintings and manuscripts, decorative arts, coins, arms and armoury, Jainism and accessories.

The building is a concentric design by Paul Mathieu, and it is part of what you have come to see. Most visitors take between an hour and two hours. Nobody is hurried.

Because the museum admits one appointment at a time, the guide's attention is yours. That is the reason for the appointment rule, and it is worth the inconvenience.

Accessibility

The Google Business Profile lists step-free parking, an accessible entrance and an accessible restroom. The museum's own description also speaks of a marble staircase, so we are confirming the step-free route before stating it as a promise. Tell us what you need when you book and we will answer plainly.

Facilities

There is no café on site. Sitapura is an industrial estate, so plan to eat before or after your visit.

Sitapura is an industrial estate. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance, so plan a meal before or after.

Getting here

The museum is 12 km from Jaipur International Airport, 5 km from Jaipur railway station and about 45 minutes from the old city. Sitapura is a working industrial estate and the museum is inside a gated zone, so the address is worth having in writing before you set out.

Questions visitors ask

Can you visit Gyan Museum without an appointment?
No. Gyan Museum in Jaipur is a private museum and admits visitors by prior appointment only. It opens Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and is closed on Sunday. Book through the museum's own site or telephone +91 81078 65710 before you travel; visitors who arrive at Sitapura without an appointment cannot be let in.
What are Gyan Museum's opening hours?
Gyan Museum opens Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm, and is closed on Sunday. Appointments run hourly from 10am, with the last at 4pm so that a visit of one to two hours finishes before closing. Some third-party listings publish seven days or 9am to 6pm; those are wrong.
How much does Gyan Museum cost?
The museum has not published an admission figure, and this site will not guess one. Ask when you request an appointment and it will be confirmed in the reply. Everything else about a visit — the hours, the appointment rule, how long it takes — is stated in full on this page.
How long does a visit to Gyan Museum take?
Between sixty minutes and two hours. Visits are guided from beginning to end and run through all nine galleries, so allow the longer figure if you want to look properly. Appointments start on the hour, and the last one of the day is at 4pm.
Where is Gyan Museum in Jaipur?
Gyan Museum is at G-1/21-23, Gems and Jewellery Zone, EPIP, Sitapura Industrial Area, Jaipur 302022 — about 12 km from Jaipur International Airport, 5 km from Jaipur railway station and 45 minutes by road from the old city. Sitapura is an industrial estate, not a tourist quarter.
Is Gyan Museum wheelchair accessible?
The museum's Google Business Profile lists wheelchair-accessible parking, entrance and restroom. The museum's own published description also mentions a marble staircase, so this site will not promise a step-free route until the museum confirms it. Say what you need when you book and you will get a plain answer before you travel.
Can you take photographs inside Gyan Museum?
The museum has not published a photography policy, so this site does not state one. Ask when you book. Please assume nothing at the door: the collection includes jewellery and manuscripts where a rule may apply to particular rooms.
Is there a café at Gyan Museum?
No. There is no café on site and Sitapura is an industrial estate with nothing within walking distance, so eat before or after your visit. There are restrooms at the museum, and parking.
