What is Hasli?

A hasli is a rigid torque worn close around the base of the throat, named for the collarbone — hansuli — whose line it follows. It is made in gold or silver, plain, chased or enamelled, opens at the back with a screw or a hinge, and is worn across northern and western India by women and children alike.
