Polki
Also written · uncut diamond
What is Polki?
A polki is a diamond used in its natural state, uncut or barely cleaved, with its original crystal faces left intact and a metal foil placed behind it to return light through the stone. Polki predates the European brilliant cut in India. The stones are usually held by the kundan method rather than by claws, and are read by colour and shape as much as by fire.
